Balancing Spirituality and Materialism
What is my life's purpose? It's a question that has intrigued humanity for ages, and it's one that I find myself returning to often. We live in a dual world—one that is both spiritual and material. But how do we navigate these two realms, and what does it mean to truly live a purposeful life?

The Spiritual World
In my understanding, the spiritual world is like a virtual space where we connect with the divine—the ultimate creator. It’s a realm where our lives are dedicated to serving a higher purpose, following the path laid out by God, and striving to return to His Kingdom. This world emphasizes selflessness, devotion, and a deeper connection with something greater than us.
The Material World
On the other hand, the material world is the one we inhabit daily—the world where we often take the earth’s resources for granted, seeing them as tools for our personal enjoyment. Influenced by theories like Darwin’s survival of the fittest or the modern "Me First" mindset, many of us pursue success defined by personal gain, comfort, and peace of mind. But despite these pursuits, I find myself asking: Do we truly find peace in all that we acquire?
The Blessing of Human Life
Human life is often considered a unique blessing among the countless species on Earth, largely because of our ability to inquire, understand, and make choices. We have the power to shape our lives through our decisions, though they may be deemed right or wrong depending on perspective. Yet, when our choices don’t lead to the desired outcomes, we are quick to shift blame onto others, reluctant to accept failure. We seek victory in all we do, but what truly defines victory?
A Matter of Perspective
Is victory only for those who achieve society’s set goals, or can it also belong to someone who owns little yet carries a smile of contentment? It’s all a matter of perspective, I believe.
My friends have shared their thoughts on priorities, suggesting that the correct order is - me, my health, career, finances, followed by family, friends, and societal commitments. They stand firm in this belief, but I sometimes find myself prioritizing family obligations first. During stressful times, I wonder: What about me? Where do I fit in this hierarchy of priorities? Am I being selfish asking these questions?
What are your thoughts? How do you determine what your life’s goal should be, or better more, do you know your life’s purpose? Have you ever embarked on this journey finding your true purpose?
